This undertaking features two prongs: the first one presents a critical review of translating the book Islam from English into Arabic, whereas the second comprises the bulk of the project or the Arabic translation of the book Islam by Karen Armstrong. The critical review has been placed before the translation for purpose of convenience even though the translation predates the critical analysis. The reflective review is driven by the concept of ‘action research’, which entails utilizing translation practice for research purposes. Thus, the translator attempts to reflects on his translation, both process and end-product, with an eye to highlighting its technicalities in an academic style. Light is shed on the strategies the researcher has taken advantage of in the course of the project. The critical section also focuses on the intricate issues that arose in the process and means resorted to in a bid to address such issues. In the final analysis, the project in its entirety aims to showcase the course of action needed to institute a manual pertinent to translation for academic purposes.
